Last year, the first UCI-categorized international cyclo-cross race in Hungary was held at the VeloPark in Debrecen.

The race and its organizers performed excellently, which contributed to the inclusion of the now traditional VeloPark Grand Prix as a full race weekend in the recently published competition calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI) for 2024. UCI C2-classified races will be held at the facility on both November 9th and 10th.

According to Béla Kovács, the VeloPark project leader, "The VeloPark was specifically designed so that its technical parameters meet the requirements for hosting cyclo-cross races at any level. The races are meant to be easy for spectators to follow, while the course presents significant challenges for the competitors."

In addition to the junior and U23 categories, the UEC Cyclo-cross European Cup series also targets the highest U17 youth category, with the Debrecen Sports Center planning to host these rounds in the near future.

These UCI and UEC races provide opportunities for Hungarian riders to compete in an international field and significantly contribute to the promotion of cycling.
